Wendy’s Meal of Misfortune is a creative, limited-time combo. We also tried their saucy nuggs and grilled chicken wrap.

Rest In 10-Piece Chicken Nuggets with Dips of Dread
The star of the meal is the hefty serving of 10 chicken nuggets—your pick of classic or spicy. Each order includes two randomly selected “Dips of Dread,” mysterious sauces that come from a lineup of four: You Can’t Hyde, This Will Sting, Grave Mistake, and Nowhere to Woe. The sauces are spicy, each with its unique twist, but getting to sample all four is tricky since only two are included per meal, and duplicates sometimes happen.
Unfortunately, there’s no option to buy extra dips or only the nuggets with sauces to try all the new dips. Having to purchase the whole meal repeatedly to try all the new flavors can be a bit of a letdown when you keep getting repeats.

Cursed & Crispy Fries
The fries are Wendy’s familiar, golden Cursed & Crispy Fries, served in themed packaging that leans into the Wednesday Addams aesthetic. Taste-wise, they’re the standard Wendy’s fry—crispy on the outside, fluffy within—with the “cursed” label more about the vibe than anything supernatural. We were unlucky and didn’t get them in their themed packaging both times we ordered.

Raven’s Blood Frosty
No treat from Wendy’s is as moody as the Raven’s Blood Frosty: a small Frosty made with a vanilla or chocolate base, then swirled with a dark cherry sauce. The cherry adds a tart, syrupy note—but with the vanilla frosty, it kind of tasted like cough syrup. We loved it with the chocolate frosty since it reminded us of a black forest cake. Each Frosty comes with a marbled purple spoon termed the “Spoon of Gloom,” a stylish, collectible detail that’s almost as memorable as the dessert itself.

Packaging and Design
Every part of this meal is supposed to be in custom packaging, but out of the two times we got this meal, there was at least one thing that didn’t have the special design. I never got to see what the meal bag design looked like since we never got one. But the signage we saw plus the packaging we did get had gothic designs and playful nods to Wednesday Addams. The creative atmosphere makes the whole meal entertaining and photo-worthy even if the menu items themselves play it safe flavor-wise.

Not Included: Saucy Nuggs & Grilled Chicken Wrap
I also ordered Saucy Nuggs on one of my visits since I never tried them before (and attempted to try a Taki’s chicken sandwich, but they gave me a plain one instead). Went for a classic Buffalo with ranch dip. Wasn’t a huge fan of these—too much sauce and not enough contrasting crisp in the nuggets. I don’t think I’d reorder these. It made me want traditional bone-in wings instead.

For the Grilled Original Chicken Wrap, I wanted to check this out since all the other new wraps out there are with fried chicken. This didn’t taste too great and I wasn’t a fan of the little chicken bites; they kept falling everywhere. I bet Chick-fil-A would be able to make a grilled chicken wrap that tastes great. For now, I’d recommend Popeye’s for their wraps and chicken wings.

Wendy’s Meal of Misfortune is a celebration of theme and whimsy: it shines with creative branding, but those mystery sauces and the requirement to buy the full meal make it a little frustrating if you want to try them all. I hope that Wendy’s and other fast food brands continue offering highly themed meals in the future, with an option to buy parts of the meal separately.
